My Highlights of 2012

So 2012 was my first full year of being a freelance photographer and it was even more incredible than I could have imagined. I toured extensively, saw places I never thought I would and made plenty of good friends along the way.

Special thanks go out to the guys in We Are The Ocean, GIANTS, The Famous Class & The Ocean’s Eyes for putting up with me on the road and letting me point my camera in their faces all day long. I was also lucky enough to shoot some of my favourite bands, including All Time Low, You Me At Six, Deaf Havana, BMTH, Taking Back Sunday, Mayday Parade, FFAF, KIGH, We Are The In Crowd, Lights, Gallows, Lostprophets, Bowling For Soup & Young Guns to name but a few. Reading through that list still sounds unreal to me, I never thought my camera would get me anywhere.

Shooting my first festivals (Hevy, Slam Dunk & Redfest) was also a highlight. I remember being at Reading when I was 16, watching the photographers in the pit thinking “They have the best job in the world”. While I have now realised that it isn’t quite the glamorous job I thought it was then, I’m happy to have achieved one of my life goals.

One of the last things I did in 2012 was shoot the Final Night of Sin at Wembley Arena with We Are The Ocean, You Me At Six & Deaf Havana. I still can’t quite sum up that night in words, but it was something very special indeed. I’ll be happy if anything in 2013 comes close to that.

In conclusion, I don’t think there’s a single thing I’d change about 2012 if I had the chance. I worked non-stop and loved every second of it all. Thanks to everyone who made it the best year of my life so far, you know who you are. Here’s to 2013 - I hope you have a good one!
